Overview of Teardrop Pallet Rack

There are several different styles of pallet racks available but teardrop pallet racking is the most common design. It is called “teardrop” because of the shape of the connection on the upright frames. The hole that is punched on the upright frames is shaped like an upside down teardrop.

The teardrop beams will have rivets that are welded onto the beam clip that will slide into the teardrop holes. Beam clips typically have anywhere from 2 to 4 rivets welded on them depending on how much capacity they need to hold and if they are in a seismic zone or not.

Most major pallet rack manufacturers today produce a teardrop pallet rack system. Teardrop pallet rack is made of cold-rolled steel and can have an open back column or a closed back column.
